How can I power up dragons to level 70?

After level 40, dragons need both plenty of food and enough empowerment stars to keep leveling. Once your Dragon Roost has unlocked level 40, the maximum level depends on the dragon's star count.

1 Star — up to level 45
2 Stars — up to level 50
3 Stars — up to level 55
4 Stars — up to level 60
5 Stars — up to level 70

What does powering up a Dragon do?

Powering up increases a dragon's level and overall strength. Higher levels improve health and attack damage, while dragons also unlock their available moves as they progress. By around level 15, most dragons will normally have access to all of their standard moves.

Why do higher Dragon levels cost so much food?

Food requirements rise very quickly at higher levels, so fully leveling a dragon can require millions of food. This makes high-level dragons much more expensive to build, especially when leveling several dragons at once. These feeding values have also stayed stable for a long time.
